Why You Should Consider a TeleSquad Next Semester: Perspectives from an Alumni Instructor

As teachers begin to plan for a brand-new school year, we asked a teacher who has already been through a TeleSquad to share her experience and how this program benefitted the students in her class. Martha Keeley teaches an Engineering Fundamentals elective class to seniors at John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Missouri. During the course of their STEM TeleSquad, students worked with community members and engineers in a rural community in Panama to design and build a water tank for that community.

Squads are passionate groups of volunteers who mobilize abroad to create positive change. Each Squad type has a skill-based focus area that support the education, health and economic development objectives of community partners. Faculty choose their dates, duration (typically 1-2 weeks), and their site location from one of our six program countries.
