Keyla grew up in the community of Platanilla in the province of Panamá Este. There she attended primary school and went to the nearby town of Torti for high school. Also in Torti, is a satellite branch of the University of Panama where she received her degree in technical studies. Before Global Brigades, Keyla worked in the Informatics and Training Center in Torti.
She was living in Platanilla when she was contracted to do a baseline survey for Global Brigades in 2014. She was trained how to conduct the household survey and then continued to visit other communities for Global Brigades to gather more information. Later she was officially offered the opportunity to join Global Brigades as a technician on the Monitoring and Evaluation team where she continues to work on projects to gather community insights through household surveys and personal interviews.
Keyla enjoys meeting people from different communities. In her free time she is dedicated to her children and family.
